Dear Praying Friends,
We continue to travel and present our ministry in churches in Michigan and the Midwest. In addition to preaching and presenting in new (to us) churches, Matt has had further opportunities to preach in churches which are already in partnership with us. Also, in June we helped with a week of VBS at Marla’s home church, Hope Baptist Church. Then we attended two consecutive week-long conferences, the BMM Family Conference (in Cleveland, OH) and a BMM enrichment conference for North American missionaries (in Ankeny, IA). Both conferences were encouraging opportunities to hear good preaching, interact with mission co-workers, and participate in workshops geared toward our specific ministry needs.
For about two and a half weeks in June and July Marla flew down to South Carolina for some dental work. Originally, she was scheduled for one root canal, which went smoothly. However, an adjacent tooth soon started acting up; it ended up requiring a second root canal, which took place the day before her return flight to Michigan. Thank the Lord, she was able to get back into the endodontist on very short notice to have it remedied while she was still close by.
Next week, Marla and I will be flying to Katy to participate in the Vacation Bible School being held at Good News Baptist Church. Our first evening will involve a carnival and cookout that we hope will generate interest in the community and draw children to attend the rest of the week. This trip will also offer Marla and me opportunities to engage in additional team planning with the Hawks and to further investigate the housing market in Katy. Please pray that children will come each evening for VBS and that lives will be changed by the gospel.
We praise the Lord for several churches and individuals that have joined our support team since our last communication with you. Our current support level now stands at 86.8% of our estimated need. We are thankful and excited to watch God answer our prayers—and yours—by continuing to bring in new support and raise up more prayer partners for our ministry. We feel increased anticipation and confidence that God will honor our prayerful desire to make the move to Katy in January 2026. Start the countdown! And keep praying!
