From Taiwan to Texas
Matt and Marla Hanna are in the midst of a ministry transition, moving from church planting in Taiwan to a church revitalization ministry at Good News Baptist Church of Katy, Texas. This page will provide you with quick access to the most important information about our transition, future ministry, and our deputation in the churches.

- The Hannas served for thirty-three years in Taiwan as church planting missionaries under Baptist Mid-Missions.
- Education:
- Matt has a B.A. in Christian Missions from Bob Jones University (1984), an M.A. in Bible (1987) and an M.Div. (2019) from Bob Jones Seminary
- Marla has a B.S.N. in Nursing from BJU (1984)
- They joined BMM in 1987 for missionary service in Taiwan. In 1990 they arrived on their field of service and began language and cultural acquisition.
- They ministered to the people of Taiwan using Mandarin Chinese to evangelize the lost, disciple believers, and train their church congregation.
- They planted Cornerstone Baptist Church in the city of Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 2002. The church is now in its 22nd year.
- In 2022, the Hannas sensed God leading them away from Taiwan toward a new ministry focus.
- They are now aiming to help revitalize Good News Baptist Church in the Houston suburb of Katy.
- They will be partnering with fellow BMM missionaries, Gerald and Julie Hawk.
- The focus of their ministry will be Evangelism, Discipleship, Teaching, Preaching, and Developing Church Leadership.
- Matt and Marla are now in the process of raising additional support necessary for their new ministry location. They are scheduling meetings and traveling in the churches to present their ministry and identify churches and individuals who are interested in partnering with them by their prayers and financial support.
